Pitt Football Backup Quarterback Anthony Gonzalez Suspended Indefinitely

Here we go again ... well, let's hope not anyway.

Pitt was in the midst of a fairly uneventful offseason when news broke that backup quarterback, Anthony Gonzalez, has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules:

A little over a month after the end of spring football, Pitt head coach Todd Graham is faced with his first suspension of the offseason.

Pitt announced late Tuesday night that redshirt freshman quarterback Anthony Gonzalez has been suspended indefinitely by Graham for a violation of team rules.

There's very little news on this. Team suspensions for rules violations are many times kept under wraps, but to add to the mystique, head coach Todd Graham is out of the area as he's participating in the Big East Spring meetings in Florida.

Losing Gonzalez for any length of time into the Fall would be troublesome. Pitt is running a new offense and Gonzalez was said to have shined somewhat in the Spring. If Sunseri would go down due to injury, the team really needs to have Gonzalez available as now third-string quarterback, Mark Myers, saw limited action in the Spring.
