As our own Anson Whaley reported earlier, backup Pitt quarterback Anthony Gonzalez was suspended late Tuesday for a violation of team rules. While the University did not stipulate the cause of the suspension, it appears the Allentown Morning Call may have uncovered one.

It's not hard to believe that this is likely the reason Pitt coach Todd Graham decided on a suspension. It will certainly be interesting to see how Graham handles the situation after all the negative publicity Pitt earned last year for players running afoul of the law. He certainly didn't wait long before suspending Gonzalez, but how much teeth the suspension will have is still up in the air. Stay tuned to SB Nation Pittsburgh for more details.
