The Greentree Summer League officially kicked off Monday night and lots of eyes were on Pitt freshman, Khem Birch. While it's hard to say Birch disappointed (he was a monster on the defensive end with eight blocks), he probably didn't have the kind of night many had hoped for and his team ended up with a losing effort.
↵Birch ended his game with a modest four points and three rebounds and was thoroughly outplayed by counterpart, Dante Taylor, who contributed to his winning team with 12 points and 16 boards.
↵A few things to keep in mind are that this was his first game against teammates and he was self-admittedly a bit nervous. Birch also said he hadn't played much in the last few weeks and knows he still needs to get in better shape for the season:
↵↵↵ ↵"The big thing is I need to get my confidence up and work on my cardio and getting in shape, but I'm ready for this challenge, I've worked for it my whole life."
