Former Pitt great Mike Ditka appeared at a Boy Scout dinner in Scranton, Pennsylvania and offered his thoughts on the current NFL lockout. Unlike what you might suspect, Ditka appears to side with the owners in the dispute:

↵As the 2011 NFL lockout drags into the summer months, Ditka still supports the owners and he said the players need to realize the opportunities the sport has afforded them.
↵"It's a power struggle. It's egos more than anything," Ditka said. "I don't really think it's about the money. I think a lot of players are talking out of their rears. The owners have a right to make money. They made an investment, they own the business and they're not holding anybody hostage."

Ditka's comments aren't necessarily all that surprising when you really think about it. He comes from an era where players, while not poor, didn't reap many of the rewards today's athletes do. Still, it's interesting to hear him so openly back the management on this one.
