Big East Announces Schedule Pairings For Pitt, West Virginia Basketball

The Big East has announced in-conference schedule pairings for its teams, including Pitt and West Virginia, for the 2011-2012 basketball season. Here they are:

Pitt:

Home: Cincinnati, Georgetown, Louisville, Providence, Rutgers, St. John’s, USF, Villanova, West Virginia
Away: Connecticut, DePaul, Louisville, Marquette, Notre Dame, Seton Hall, USF, Syracuse, West Virginia

West Virginia:

Home: Cincinnati, DePaul, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Villanova
Away: Connecticut, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Providence, Rutgers, St. John’s, Seton Hall, USF, Syracuse

The highlight of the Pitt schedule is home and away games against Louisville, which finished 25-10 last year. Pitt also gets home games against Cincinnati, Georgetown, St. John's, Villanova and West Virginia teams that were strong last year, although that's to be expected, given how tough the conference was last year. (I know - insert NCAA Tournament joke here.)

WVU, meanwhile, gets home games against tournament teams in Cincinnati, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette and Villanova, but the highlights will be Pitt and Notre Dame.

Full schedules for Pitt and West Virginia have not yet been announced.
