Pitt Lands Surprise Quarterback Recruit For 2011

With the Anthony Gonzalez suspension still fresh on the mind of head coach Todd Graham, he went out and picked up some immediate help at quarterback for 2011 in Trey Anderson.

Anderson was expected to be a junior college quarterback this Fall, but hearing from Graham and quarterbacks coach Todd Dodge changed his mind:

"The whole time I had been dead set on attending Tyler," Anderson said Wednesday. "Coach (Todd) Dodge gave me a call, and said they really needed a quarterback.

↵

"He just asked me up for a visit to see how things would go, and I just fell in love with the place."

Graham is expected to redshirt Anderson according to the article, but having him around just in case Gonzalez' suspension lingers on could make him the third/emergency quarterback in the rotation behind Tino Sunseri and Mark Myers. He isn't a highly touted recruit and didn't have any major offers, but will offer a bit of depth at the position.
