Big East Media Day: West Virginia Picked To Finish First

Unsurprisingly, West Virginia football has been named the likely winner of the Big East at the 2011 Big East Media Day. West Virginia looks like a much-improved team and the best team in the conference, so this result was widely predicted well before it ended up happening. WVU received 21 out of 24 first-place votes, with Pitt receiving two and South Florida receiving one. Here are the results:

1. West Virginia
2. Pitt
3. South Florida
4. Syracuse
5. Cincinnati
6. Connecticut
7. Louisville
8. Rutgers

You can see Big East Coast Bias' own ballot here. WVU gets the nod due in part to quarterback Geno Smith and new coach Dana Holgorsen, who seem like a good combination, although they also note that Pitt's own new head coach, Todd Graham, is a good match for the Panthers' offensive personnel.

By the way, Big East Coast Bias picks Connecticut, last year's BCS representative, to finish last, citing the Huskies' lack of offense.
