The final cuts have been made for USA basketball's roster for the World University Games, which begin in China next weekend. New West Virginia center Aaric Murray was one of the last two odd men out, along with UConn's Shabazz Napier, but Pitt's Ashton Gibbs has made the team. Here's the roster, which will be coached by Purdue's Matt Painter, assisted by Butler's Brad Stevens and Tennessee's Cuonzo Martin.
↵F Tim Abromaitis, Notre Dame
G Marcus Denmon, Missouri
G Ashton Gibbs, Pitt
F Draymond Green, Michigan State
F JaMychal Green, Alabama
G Scoop Jardine, Syracuse
G John Jenkins, Vanderbilt
G Orlando Johnson, UC-Santa Barbara
F Greg Mangano, Yale
F Trevor Mbakwe, Minnesota
G Ray McCallum, Detroit
G Darius Miller, Kentucky
It remains to be seen how playing time will shake out, and one of the things Painter likes about the roster is the number of "interchangeable parts." But it looks like Gibbs' chief competitor for playing time will be Jenkins, who filled a similar role for Vanderbilt that Gibbs did for Pitt.
