Paul Chryst Reaches Into High School Ranks For Second Hire

All has been relatively quiet on Paul Chryst's new staff at Pitt, but expect that to pick up with Wisconsin's bowl game now over. News came out today that Chryst's next hire has been made, though the exact capacity hasn't yet been confirmed.

Mount Lebanon High School coach Chris Haering will apparently be the next assistant head coach under Chryst. He'll join Wisconsin offensive line coach Bob Bostad, who was named as the team's offensive coordinator recently. The link? Haering played at West Virginia while Chryst was a graduate assistant there.

Haering has run a successful high school program and has been in the area for many years. The downside is that he hasn't coached major college football. But he did play at this level and should also help with the recruiting scene locally. As long as Chryst doesn't fill his staff with high school coaches, I have no problem with this hire.
