The Pittsburgh Panthers (2-2, 0-1) travel to face the Syracuse Orange (1-3, 0-0) on Friday, looking to build on their momentum from two straight wins. Both teams are looking for their first Big East win of the season in what will be their last season in the conference.
The Panthers lost an early conference game to the Cincinnati Bearcats on Sept. 6, getting embarrassed, 34-10, at home. Since that loss, Pittsburgh has responded, winning two straight, including a Sept. 15 35-17 victory over Virginia Tech.
The only win of the season for the Orange came Sept. 15 against FCS school Stony Brook. Despite a 1-3 record, the Orange have had a formidable offense this season, losing to now No. 24 Northwestern, 42-41, and putting 29 points up against No. 13 USC.
Both teams boast a better-than-average passing attack, with Syracuse ranking 10th with 341.8 yards per game and Pitt ranking 26th in the nation with 299.3 yards per game. In the Panthers' last two games, quarterback Tino Sunseri has thrown for six touchdowns and only one interception.
Pittsburgh has won the last seven meetings between the two schools, winning 33-20 last season.
