Three members of the Pittsburgh Panthers football team were charged with assault and conspiracy on Thursday night, according to a report by Liz Navratil of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Pittsburgh police said defensive back Lafayette Pitts, 20, running back Ray Graham, 22, and wide receiver Devin Street, 21, surrounded a man a month ago in Oakland, Pa., and, following a brief verbal altercation, Street punched him in the head.

Karl Olsheski told police that, as he was walking in Oakland, Graham got in his way, saying, "What's up?" followed by a racial slur. When Olsheski responded and tried to leave the situation, Pitts, Street and Graham reportedly surrounded him, and then Street struck him on the left side of his head.

The three Panthers were not arrested, according to the report, but will receive summonses in the mail that will tell them to report to the preliminary court hearing on Jan. 9.
