New Penn State football coach Bill O'Brien stopped by the Bryce Jordan Center on Thursday night for the basketball team's game against Iowa as his staff was introduced to fans in attendance at halftime. Once introductions were completed, O'Brien addressed the crowd.
↵"As a staff, we just want to thank everyone for how welcoming you've been," O'Brien said. "We've got a great staff here. We've got a great group of men. A lot of winners, a lot of guys who have been through a lot of transitions, and they're ready to go, and we're all ready to go. But most importantly, we've got a group of men over there, young men, working over there in the Lasch Building and the weight room and on the practice fields. And I don't make many promises but I can guarantee you one thing, they're going to make you very proud in the fall, and they're going to show up to play every week and every game and every down. So thank you very much, we appreciate it. We're thrilled to be here. We're proud to be at Penn State."
↵Wide receivers coach Stan Hixon, defensive coordinator Ted Roof, offensive line coach Mac McWhorter, running backs coach Charles London, tight ends coach John Strollo, secondary coach John Butler, linebackers coach Ron Vanderlinden and defensive line coach Larry Johnson Sr. all appeared at the game with O'Brien. Vanderlinden and Johnson, holdovers from Joe Paterno's staff, received the loudest applause of the group.
