Pitt Basketball Lands 2012 Recruit Chris Jones

After losing forward/center Khem Birch to a transfer, Jamie Dixon had an open slot on his team for 2012. He's now filled that with a commitment from guard/forward Chris Jones. Jones reportedly had no other major offers, but was rated as a three-star recruit by both Rivals and Scout. Scout says he had offers from La Salle, Rhode Island, Boston, and Hofstra.

Jones was recruited by former Pitt guard Brandin Knight, according to the Rivals site. His commitment is a welcome addition for a team lacking quality depth at guard. Ashton Gibbs will be graduating this season and starting point guard Tray Woodall will be gone after next. Jones joins James Robinson as 2012 guard recruits for Jamie Dixon's squad. Along with John Johnson, Cameron Wright, and Isaiah Epps, they'll compete for time in Pitt's backcourt over the next few seasons.
