CBI Tournament: Pitt Sets Low Attendance Record Against Wofford

Pitt beat Wofford handily in the first round of the CBI Wednesday night, 81-63 at Petersen Events Center. Embarrassingly, though, it set a team record, and not the sort you want to set.

The announced attendance was 1,449 at the 12,508-seat building, which shattered the old low-water mark of 6,234 set against Georgetown (Ky.) College on Dec. 15, 2003, and the infamous '10 blizzard game against Seton Hall.

Pitt had an attendance of 6,681 in that Seton Hall game.

The good news here is that the Panthers won. If they hadn't, it would have been one of the low points in the history of the program, which underscores how weird it was that Pitt accepted an invitation to the CBI in the first place.

By the way, here's Pitt's J.J. Moore on Wednesday night's attendance.

"Our true fans were there."

... Which raises the question of exactly how many "true fans" Moore thinks Pitt has, of course.
