Pitt, Penn, Butler, Wyoming, and Oregon State all won Wednesday night to advance to the second round of the College Basketball Invitational, joining Princeton, Washington State and TCU.
Pitt defeated Wofford 81-63 in by far the worst-attended Pitt game in the history of the Petersen Events Center. Penn knocked off Quinnipiac, 74-63. Butler easily beat Delaware, 75-58. Wyoming edged North Dakota State, 78-75. And Oregon State beat Western Illinois, 80-59.
Now that the first round is over, here are the CBI matchups for the second round.
TCU vs. Oregon State
Wyoming vs. Washington State
Butler vs. Penn
Princeton vs. Pitt
Pitt, Penn, Washington State and Butler will be the home teams, and these four matchups will all take place March 19. The CBI will announce game times and TV information on Thursday. It's not yet clear who would play who in the semifinals after the second round is over, but the possibility of a Pitt vs. Butler matchup is creating a little bit of buzz on Twitter. Butler upset Pitt en route to the 2011 NCAA Tournament Championship Game.
