NBA Trade Deadline 2012: Former Pitt Star Sam Young Traded From Grizzlies To 76ers

Former Pitt star Sam Young was off to a promising career with the Memphis Grizzlies, but this year had fallen out of favor with the coaching staff. Young openly questioned his decreased playing time earlier this season and now with the NBA trade deadline looming, he's been dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers for the rights to Ricky Sanchez.

For the Sixers, it's a fairly low price to pay for Young, who averaged just over seven points a game in his first two NBA seasons. He's had a track record of being able to contribute when given minutes, and with a fresh start in Philadelphia, he might be able to get back onto the court.

Playing behind star Andre Iguodala, Young isn't likely to be competing to be a starter anytime soon. But he could be the first small forward off the bench for the team and that alone should net him consistent minutes.
