Pitt Football 2013 Recruiting: Paul Chryst Lands Scott Orndoff

Pitt football coach Paul Chryst got on the 2013 recruiting scoreboard by snagging local tight end Scott Orndoff from Seton-La Salle.

Orndoff was originally a Wisconsin commit while Chryst was offensive coordinator for the Badgers. But once the coach came to Pitt, Orndoff reopened his recruitment. Orndoff is rated as a solid three-star recruit by Scout and the site also calls him the nation's 13th best tight end. He reportedly had other offers from Michigan, Michigan State, and West Virginia, among others. He was recruited by former Wisconsin assistant Joe Rudolph, who recruited him while he was still on the Badgers' staff along with Chryst.

The tight end also underwent a position change at Seton-La Salle as he was previously a quarterback. His numbers (20 catches, 348 yards, and four touchdowns) last season as a junior were fairly modest, but look for a bigger senior season for him as he'll have some more time as a receiver under his belt.
