The Final Four of the CBI takes place Wednesday night, and the Pitt Panthers will be there, staring down an old foe. Pitt takes on Butler, which knocked it out of last year's NCAA Tournament, at 8:00 p.m.
Butler doesn't look particularly intimidating this year, having gone just 11-7 in the weak Horizon League and not beating a ranked team all year, but don't forget that the Bulldogs only went 13-5 in league play last season. It was during tournament time that they really went nuts.
This season, they were blown out by Valparaiso in the semifinals of the Horizon tournament, but they've beaten Delaware and Penn so far in the CBI. They'll also have home-court advantage.
The other semifinal game is between Washington State and Oregon State, and that one is at 10:00 p.m. Oddly, Washington (not Washington State, but Washington) played Oregon (not Oregon State, but Oregon) in the NIT Tuesday night. Washington State has taken two of three contests from the Beavers this season.
