Bryan at Pitt Script found this site that deals with the tournament bubble ... the NIT bubble. Obviously, it doesn't make much sense to get worked up about it while there are still conference tournaments to be played, but it's fun, so what the heck.
↵The big news here, from our perspective, is that Pitt is currently on track to make the NIT. Not by much, but the Panthers are there, sharing the No. 7 seeds with Cleveland State, Minnesota and Wagner. (The No. 1 seeds, in this scenario, are Northwestern, Arizona, Oregon and VCU.) Duquesne and Robert Morris are listed as bubble teams, but they're both on the outside looking in right now.
↵Of course, Robert Morris has a pretty good shot at making the NCAA Tournament -- all the Colonials have to do is beat Long Island in the Northeast Conference Finals. (This scenario assumes LIU will win that game.) Duquesne could strengthen its NIT bid with a deep run in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
↵For Pitt, most of the work has already been done, or not. The Panthers have had a miserable season, but a first-round win over St. John's in the Big East Tournament would help them.
