Big East Tournament Scores: UConn Knocks Off DePaul, Will Face WVU

The Connecticut Huskies defeated the DePaul Blue Demons 81-67 in the Big East Tournament Tuesday afternoon, setting up a second-round matchup against the West Virginia Mountaineers.

UConn’s win was expected, as DePaul was the Big East’s worst team. Jeremy Lamb had 25 points for the Huskies, and Ryan Boatright contributed 19 points off the bench. Cleveland Melvin and Moses Morgan had 19 points each for the Blue Demons.

The UConn/WVU matchup will take place at noon on Wednesday and will be broadcast on ESPN. The two teams last played January 9, when the Huskies beat the Mountaineers 64-57. Since then, though, UConn has struggled against Big East competition, going 4-9 before recent wins against Pitt and now DePaul.

Next up in the Big East Tournament is Pitt’s matchup against St. John’s.
