Shakir Soto Commits To Pitt

Pitt football coach Paul Chryst secured his third recruit of the 2013 class with the commitment of Shakir Soto. Like Pitt's most recent commit, Aaron Reese, Soto plays on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball and as a junior last season had a huge year.

Playing at GAR Memorial High School in Wilkes-Barre, Soto led his team with 114 tackles and also had nine sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a blocked punt.

He isn't currently ranked by either Rivals or Scout, but did reportedly have several offers from BCS programs including Virginia, Maryland, Boston College, and Temple. 24/7 Sports rates him as a three-star recruit, however. The site also rates him as the nation's 14th best weakside defensive end and the 24th best overall recruit in Pennsylvania.
