Offensive lineman Dan Samuelson committed to Pitt on Wednesday, choosing the Panthers over several schools, including Illinois, Wake Forest, and Minnesota. Samuelson was also drawing interest from some bigger programs such as Penn State, Michigan, and Michigan State.
↵Samuelson currently rates as a three-star recruit, according to Rivals and Scout. He plays for Plymouth High School in Indiana and, as Paul Zeise of the Post-Gazette notes, may be Pitt's first recruit from that state in at least 40 years.
↵For Pitt, Samuelson provides more depth on an offensive line that needs it. If anyone knows what it takes to build a strong offensive line, it's Chryst, who helped put together one of the best at Wisconsin. Chryst is still settling in at Pitt, and it's still a bit of a question where he plans to focus on recruiting. Western Pennsylvania will, of course, be a priority, but it will be interesting to see where else Pitt's coaches recruit heavily.
