Pitt Fullback Derrick Burns In Stable Condition After Being Hospitalized On Tuesday

University of Pittsburgh freshman fullback Derrick Burns is in stable condition after being hospitalized on Tuesday with an unspecified condition.

University of Pittsburgh freshman fullback Derrick Burns was hospitalized on Tuesday with an unspecified medical condition, according to a statement released by the Pitt athletic department. He is now listed as being in stable condition at an area hospital.

Reports on Tuesday following the incident indicated that Burns had a stroke, but that was never confirmed. Additional information about his condition is expected soon following more medical tests.

Burns is a 5-foot-11, 235-pound redshirt freshman fullback. He played in just one game last season. He hails from New Wilmington, Pa., where he had a prestigious high school career, rushing for 2,632 yards and 44 touchdowns. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Burns was a Big 33 All Star as a senior in high school.
