WPIAL Recruit Jaymar Parrish Commits To Pitt

Gateway star Jaymar Parrish became Paul Chryst's fifth commitment for 2013. Parrish is the second WPIAL recruit for the rookie coach at Pitt.

Parrish plays tight end and linebacker at Gateway, but is expected to move to fullback at Pitt. He reportedly had only one other offer (Akron), but his coach says that he had drawn interest from Penn State, Wisconsin, and Purdue. He is currently unranked by Rivals and Scout.

A priority for Parrish was committing early and getting it out of the way:

Parrish said he was eager to finalize his choice.

"I wanted to get it over and done with and focus on my team," he said.

Despite the fact that he'll be moving to fullback, Parrish will still be able to utilize his pass-catching skills a bit. His coach says he has good hands and while his primary role will be to block for Pitt's running backs, it's easy to envision him catching a few balls out of the backfield as Henry Hynoski occasionally did.
