The Penguins extended their winning streak to 12 games with a 5-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night. Sidney Crosby extended his points streak to 18 games by recording an assist in the third period.
New addition Dustin Jeffrey scored his first goal of the season and the second of his career to kick off the scoring in the first period. Arron Asham then scored as the Pens jumped out to a 2-0 lead.
The Penguins ran their record with 21-8-1 with the win, and the Philadelphia Flyers pulled out an overtime victory over the Boston Bruins to stay one point behind the Pens. The Penguins and Flyers meet on Tuesday in Philadelphia
The Sabres cut that in half with a power-play goal late in the period. But after a scoreless second period, the Penguins tacked on goals by Alex Goligoski and Mike Rupp, with an empty-netter by Matt Cooke just before the game ended.
Marc-Andre Fleury notched 34 saves in yet another fine outing, and Jeffrey finished the game with one goal and one assist.
