NHL Scores: Penguins Win 7-2, Await Devils On Monday

The Penguins 7-2 rout of the Columbus Blue Jackets last night kept them two points ahead of the Philadelphia Flyers, who beat a weak Devils team 5-3. The Flyers, though, could tie the Penguins’ point total today with a win over another weak Atlantic Division team, the New York Islanders, as the two teams play today at 1:00. The New York Rangers, five points behind the Pens, also play today, against the Ottawa Senators.

The Pens are idle today, and their next game is on Monday at 7:00 against the Devils. They then face two more (rather) weak opponents in the Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres, putting them in good position when they face the Flyers on December 14. The way the Pens are playing now, winning nine straight games and dismantling a relatively good team in the Blue Jackets, it’s hard to see them slowing down much in the next week or so.
