Penguins Vs. Canucks Score: Pens Lead 2-0 After Two Power-Play Goals

On opening night, the Pittsburgh Penguins have struck first, then struck again, getting power-play goals from James Neal and Matt Cooke to move ahead 2-0 on the Canucks in Vancouver. Neal scored the first goal on his first shot of the night. He was assisted by teammates Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang. The second goal by Cooke was assisted by Pascal Dupuis.

The Penguins were on a power play for the first goal, after Vancouver's Kevin Bieksa received two minutes in the penalty box for Hooking Matt Cooke. The goal was scored just over five minutes into the game, and after just 16 seconds on the power play for the Penguins. The second goal was also on a power play, after Jannik Hansen was penalized two minutes for elbowing Zbynek Michalek.

Both goals were scored in the first 12:30 of the first period. The Penguins still maintain a two-goal advantage as the first period winds down.
