After playing 13 games in 26 days during the month of October, the Pittsburgh Penguins started their November slate of games with a 4-3 overtime loss on Thursday night in San Jose. The Penguins are now 8-3-3 on the 2011-2012 NHL season. Their 19 points are good for first place in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. Toronto also has 19 points heading into this weekend's action, but by virtue of having played one fewer game, edges out Pittsburgh for the top spot in the Eastern Conference for the time being.
The Penguins have now lost two consecutive games after winning their previous five games. They don't skate on Friday night, but return to action out west on Saturday evening when they take on the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center. They'll then have almost a week off after flying back east Saturday night. Their next game is on November 11th against the Dallas Stars.
