Early in the second period, the Penguins lead the Chicago Blackhawks by a score a 2-0. Chris Kunitz scored a power-play goal in the first period, and James Neal followed that up with a goal in the second.
Evgeni Malkin made his second assist of the night by passing to Neal near the blue line. Neal darted toward the goal and made a great wrist shot into the corner that got by Ray Emery. (Matt Niskanen also picked up an assist for the 100th point of his career.) The announcers noted that, with his 19th goal of the season, Neal is currently one behind Steven Stamkos for the NHL lead.
The Pens followed that up with a power play as Patrick Kane was called for hooking, but they couldn’t convert.
Marc-Andre Fleury has 16 saves in the contest so far, almost midway through the second period.
