Brent Johnson, starting in place of Marc-Andre Fleury, had a night to remember, not only making 20 saves and holding the Islanders scoreless, but also logging a one-punch KO during a rare goalie fight between himself and Islanders' netminder Rick DiPietro:

The Penguins opened their account 8:08 into the first period via Tyler Kennedy and doubled their lead five minutes later through Chris Kunitz. Defence was on display for the remainder of a messy game, as the teams combined for only 42-shots.

Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Mark Letestu all sat out with injuries.
