The Associated Press reports that Evgeni Malkin will play on Friday when the Pens host the Buffalo Sabres, but that Mark Letestu, who was injured on Tuesday when he skated over a rut on the ice at Madison Square Garden, is out four to six weeks, as he'll have surgery on his knee. It looks like Dustin Jeffrey will enjoy his first extended stay in Pittsburgh, and if his performance so far is any indication, he's ready for it.
↵Also, another injured center, Sidney Crosby, will leave the team for a few days to visit his family. There's still no word on when Crosby will return from his concussion.
↵Malkin has been out five games with a sinus infection and a knee injury. His will help the Penguins compensate for the absences of Crosby and Letestu. The Pens have actually played fairly well without those guys, but it's still unfortunate that it looks like it will be a while before everyone is healthy.
