NHL Playoff Matchups: Penguins To Face Tampa Bay Lightning

The Philadelphia Flyers' 7-4 win over the New York Islanders Saturday clinched the Atlantic Division for Philadelphia, meaning that the Penguins will play the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the NHL playoffs. The Penguins will have the No. 4 seed and the Lightning the No. 5, so Pittsburgh will have home ice.

Also, the Lightning beat the Carolina Hurricanes Saturday, eliminating the Hurricanes from the playoff race. That means the Eastern Conference playoff field is set, with the Washington Capitals, Flyers, and Boston Bruins taking the first three seeds and the Montreal Canadiens, Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers (who all won today) taking the sixth, seventh and eighth seeds. The other playoff matches besides Penguins vs. Lightning will be Capitals vs. Rangers, Flyers vs. Sabres and Bruins vs. Canadiens.

In the Western Conference, the Chicago Blackhawks and Dallas Stars are battling for the final playoff spot, with both teams playing Sunday.
