Max Talbot Also Signs With Philadelphia Flyers

Just after Jaromir Jagr spurned the Pittsburgh Penguins to sign with the Philadelphia Flyers, Maxime Talbot left the Penguins behind and signed with the Flyers as well, in this case for five years and $9 million. The Penguins weren’t expected to sign him, so it’s not a surprise that he’s headed elsewhere, only that he’s headed to Philadelphia. Also surprising is the amount of money the Flyers will pay him.

"Yeah I guess it is," Talbot said on TSN. "But I think it was the right thing for me to do. Meaning it was the best team, in my opinion, that I coud go to" …

"It was not only about the money, it was about trying to find the right fit for me," Talbot said.

In any case, the Flyers-Penguins rivalry should be intense this year. That’s mostly due to Jagr, but the Flyers’ addition of Talbot only adds to that.

Talbot played parts of six seasons with the Penguins. He had eight goals and 13 assists last year while playing in 82 games.
