The Pittsburgh Penguins and Los Angeles Kings will make NHL history Tuesday night in their preseason matchup at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. The Kings, the designated home team in this neutral-site game, announced Monday evening the game is sold out. The Sprint Center seats 17,544 for hockey, meaning Tuesday's contest "will set the attendance mark for 2011 NHL pre-season games played at neutral site, non-NHL venues in North America," according to the Kings.
As I said: NHL history!
Even without superstar Sidney Crosby, who's recovering from a concussion suffered in January, the Pens own an unblemished 3-0 mark this preseason. Evgeni Malkin, with two goals and three assists to date, may be returning to Beast Mode. In contrast, Los Angeles has been anything but beastly, with a 1-1-1 record following a loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.
