Penguins Vs. Flyers Recap: Philadelphia Scores With One Second Remaining In Overtime For 3-2 Win

The Pittsburgh Penguins 11-game win streak was snapped on Sunday afternoon when they fell in overtime, 3-2, to the Philadelphia Flyers. Scott Hartnell scored his 35th goal of the season with one second remaining in the extra session to give the Flyers the win. It was a tough loss for the Pens, who had a two-goal lead heading to the third period but all win streaks have to come to an end at some point.

Craig Adams and Evgeni Malkin gave Pittsburgh the two-goal lead, as Marc-Andre Fleury held the Flyers scoreless through the first 40 minutes. Adams opened the scoring with seven minutes remaining in the first, taking a feed from Kris Letang and beating Ilya Bryzgalov for his fifth goal of the season. Malkin would get his 41st goal of the year in the final minute of the second period on another feed from Letang. Geno was fantastic again on Sunday, but blocked a Claude Giroux shot in the third period that had him favoring his right knee as the game wound down.

After being dominated and out-shot by 17 in the first two periods, the Flyers responded in a big way over the final 20 minutes. Philly put 14 shots on Fleury to get back in it. They controlled the action right off the bat and evened it up at 2-2 within the first five minutes. Kimmo Timonen scored the first goal, a power play chance set up by Giroux 30 seconds in. Hartnell then tied it up just four minutes later on another play set up by the versatile Giroux. Pittsburgh had a couple good chances to win in OT before the last second game-winner ended the incredible win streak. The overtime loss does mean the Pens make up a point on the Rangers in the race for first place.
