Penguins Vs. Senators: Matt Cooke's Two Goals Have Pittsburgh Up 2-1 After 20 Minutes

Matt Cooke has scored his 18th and 19th goals of the season as the Pittsburgh Penguins have taken a 2-1 lead over the Ottawa Senators after one period at Scotiabank Place.

Milan Michalek gave Ottawa a 1-0 lead at the 9:06 mark of the first period with his 33rd goal of the season. But Cooke drew the Penguins even just 40 seconds later, with an assist from Derek Engelland. Cooke gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead at the 13:01 mark of the first period, scoring his second of the night with assists from Sidney Crosby and Paul Martin.

Pittsburgh outshot Ottawa 15-10 in the first period, with Brad Thiessen stopping nine shots for the Penuins and Ben Bishop making 13 saves for Ottawa.
