Penguins Vs. Avalanche: Pens Try To Stretch Winning Streak To Five

The Pens will try to stretch their winning streak to five with a road matchup against Colorado, which is coming off a home shutout loss against the Blue Jackets.

The Penguins will look for their fifth straight win against the Colorado Avalanche on the road at 9:00 PM Saturday.

The Pens are coming off wins against the Rangers, Blue Jackets, Lightning and Stars. They currently hold the fourth playoff spot with 79 points, but the Flyers and Devils have 77 points and the Senators 76. None of those teams play Saturday.

The Avalanche also had its own four-game winning streak going, but that ended on Thursday when Colorado was shut out at home by the lowly Blue Jackets. That loss means the Avalanche is still three points out of a playoff spot, so Colorado will by highly motivated heading into Saturday night's game. The Sharks and Stars occupy the seventh and eighth spots in the Western Conference with 73 points, while the Kings and Avalanche have 70 points and the Flames 69. The Kings and Sharks both play late games Saturday.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere will start in net against Marc-Andre Fleury. Semyon Varlamov has played most of the Avalanche's recent games and has been very good, allowing two goals or fewer in four straight games since allowing five against the Jets on February 19. Giguere has only started once since February 15.
