Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin has collected some impressive hardware this offseason, including the Hart Trophy recognizing him as a the NHL's most valuable player. Malkin could have another award to put on display, along with his teammate Sidney Crosby, as both players have been nominated for an ESPY Award.
Malkin is a candidate for the Best NHL Player, the ESPY version of the Hart Trophy. Four other players are nominated for that award as well.
Crosby is up for the Best Comeback award, the only NHL player in the mix. Joining him are Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, Mets pitcher Johan Santana and tennis star Maria Sharapova. Crosby struggled with concussions over the last two seasons. He was limited to just 22 games this season, but scored 37 points over that stretch.
The ESPYS take place on Wednesday, July 11 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
