Not Yet Much Basis For Rumors Connecting Alexander Semin To Penguins

Reports around Twitter indicate that the Penguins have reached an agreement with Washington Capitals winger Alexander Semin, but not so fast. These reports aren't coming from any credible source, as far as we can tell, and I haven't yet found a Pittsburgh reporter who's even talking about it.

The Pensblog calls these reports "questionable," which itself appears to be generous. These reports are connected to Sirius/XM and stretch back a couple of days, but Dan Rosen talked to Penguins GM Ray Shero on Monday, and it didn't even sound like there was anyone on the market Shero was even all that interested in, much less had signed.

Shero did mention there are a few guys (didn't name names), but it didn't sound like he's going bonkers pursuing them now.

In the meantime, then, there doesn't appear to be any credible reason to hang our hats on the idea that Semin is going to be a Penguin. Maybe it'll happen eventually, but we'll just have to wait on that.
