Baseball Prospectus just published its list of the Top 11 (actually, top 20) Pirates prospects, with scouting reports for each. BP strongly emphasizes potential here, placing young pitchers Jameson Taillon, Stetson Allie, and Luis Heredia at the top of the list. After that, there are several guys who are closer to the big leagues in Tony Sanchez, Rudy Owens and Bryan Morris. There are some surprising omissions, like Justin Wilson, Robbie Grossman and Quinton Miller, but the author provides reasons for the first two in the comments.
↵It's as clear as ever that the Pirates have a ton more talent than they used to, although it will be interesting to see whether they'll be able to turn that talent into a team in the next few years. Their first few prospects are so much younger than many of the others that it's hard to imagine them all playing on the same team together.
