Gerrit Cole To Make Third Arizona Fall League Start

The Pirates' Gerrit Cole, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 MLB Draft, will pitch in the Arizona Fall League for the Mesa Solar Sox against the Scottsdale Scorpions at 3:35 PM Eastern on Wednesday.

It's been a fun AFL for Pirates prospects. Cole allowed a few runs in his first pro start, but he pitched three scoreless innings in his second one. Outfielder Robbie Grossman is currently tied for the league lead in home runs, with six, after a blast on Tuesday. He's also batting .397. (And yes, outlandish-looking offensive performances are the norm in the AFL, but those are still pretty crazy numbers.) And pitcher Jeff Inman, who has struggled with injuries in his pro career so far, has pitched two scoreless innings, and his arm appears to be intact.
