Robbie Grossman homered for the second straight game in the Arizona Fall League on Wednesday and went 3-for-5 overall as Mesa lost 10-4 to Phoenix. In two games, Grossman is now 5-for-9 with two home runs and a walk.
↵Pirates infielder Jarek Cunningham, meanwhile, went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Wednesday, putting him at 0-for-8 with three strikeouts so far in total.
↵None of the Pirates' pitchers played on Wednesday, so we're still awaiting the pro debut of Gerrit Cole, the top overall pick in the 2011 draft. What's strange is that, when it happens, no one will see it - it was the second game of the AFL season on Wednesday, and the official attendance is listed as 200.
↵Other Pirates prospects in the AFL (all on the Mesa team) are pitchers Nate Baker, Mike Colla, and Phil Irwin, and infielder Brock Holt.
