Alex Presley No. 18 Prospect In International League, Baseball America Says

Baseball America has published its list of the best prospects in the International League, and the only Pirate is Alex Presley, at No. 18.

Presley hit .333/.388/.485 at Indianapolis this year and .298/.339/.465 in the majors, but scouts have never been too fond of him, mostly due to his size.

The Pirates landed nine players in Baseball America's top prospects lists: Presley in the International League, Starling Marte and Kyle McPherson in the Eastern League, Jameson Taillon in the South Atlantic League, Nick Kingham and Alex Dickerson in the NY-Penn League, and Luis Heredia, Jose Osuna and Alen Hanson in the Gulf Coast League. Those lists don't include recent top draft picks Gerrit Cole and Josh Bell, who signed too late in the season to play, but that's still not much of a showing for a Pirates team whose primary emphasis in the past four years has been its farm system.
