Pirates Announce Part Of Batting Order

The Pirates have decided on at least part of their batting order for the upcoming season. I don't freak out much about batting orders because, well, which players you start matters a lot more than in what order you start them. But here it is:

1. OF Jose Tabata

↵

2. 2B Neil Walker

↵

3. OF Andrew McCutchen

↵

4. 1B Lyle Overbay

↵

5. 3B Pedro Alvarez

↵

Overbay and Alvarez both bat lefty, so I'm not sure what the point is in having a stick in the mud like Overbay keep Alvarez away from the rest of your best hitters, but like I said, I'm not going to freak out about it.

↵

Garrett Jones and Matt Diaz (depending on who's in the lineup that day) will likely hit sixth on most days. Catcher Chris Snyder, assuming he's healthy, and shortstop Ronny Cedeno will complete the lineup.

The Pirates start their season against the Cubs on Friday.
