Pirates reliever Joe Beimel is back on the DL with elbow problems, after missing a couple weeks at the beginning of the season. They called up Danny Moskos to take his place as the Bucs bullpen's lefty reliever.
↵Beimel has a 5.40 ERA in 13 appearances this season. He allowed a two-run homer by Alfonso Soriano on Friday. We'll see when the Pirates get him back - elbow injuries, even those that initially appear minor, can be very troublesome.
↵The Pirates showed little faith in Moskos in his last stint with the big-league club. He pitched very rarely, accumulating only five appearances. At some point, I'd like to see what Class AAA reliever Tony Watson can do as a bullpen lefty in the big-league bullpen (he has been a lot more impressive, statistically, than Moskos over the past several years, and Moskos' stuff doesn't do much for me), but the Pirates probably figure Moskos is first in line.
