Steve Pearce, Ronny Cedeno Return For Pirates

The Pirates have reinstated infielders Steve Pearce and Ronny Cedeno from the disabled list, David Todd at Bucs Dugout notes, and have shipped reliever Chris Leroux back to Class AAA Indianapolis.

The returns of both players will be welcome. The Pirates have gotten little out of either infield corner, and Pearce should be able to help at both, particularly against lefties. And Cedeno's defense, which has been terrific this year, should also improve the Bucs - Chase D'Arnaud filled in pretty well for a rookie, but he was mistake-prone.

Leroux will be back. Jason Grilli, who had already been added to the roster, will take his place. Leroux is probably the better pitcher, but I'm not sure how big the difference is right now, and by optioning Leroux right now, the Pirates get to keep both pitchers in the organization. Next time a bullpen righty gets hurt, Leroux will get the call.
