Pedro Alvarez Recalled As Alex Presley Heads To DL

During the Pirates' three game losing streak last week, calls for Pedro Alvarez's return to the Pirates roster grew more and more impassioned. It looks like fans and media finally have their wish, though, as the Bucs have made a pair of roster moves today, according to BucsInsider.

This is obviously good and bad news for the Pirates. On one hand, even if Alvarez plays poorly, he should be an upgrade on the combination of Chase d'Arnaud and Brandon Wood currently manning third base for Pittsburgh. On the other, it's tough to watch Alex Presley go on the shelf. He has arguably been one of the Pirates best hitters since he arrived in late June and leaves a lot of questions in the outfield. It looks like a combination of Steve Pearce, Garrett Jones and Matt Diaz will split the right and left field duties until Presley or Jose Tabata can return to the lineup.
