Pirates Place Chase d'Arnaud On DL, Call Up Chris Leroux

The Pirates' 19-inning marathon Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with the Braves has left the Pittsburgh bullpen depleted and looking for some help. Luckily, it looks like reliever Chris Leroux has made it from Triple A-Indianapolis to Atlanta and will be active Wednesday night, replacing Chase d'Arnaud on the 25-man roster. d'Arnaud injured his pinky figer on Sunday and has been limited for the past couple of days, leading to his being placed on the disabled list to make room for Leroux. The Bucs are clearly using his injury as an excuse to add help without making any major roster moves.

Leroux, 27, has pitched in five games for the Pirates this season, compiling a 0.00 ERA and seven strikeouts against no walks in 5.2 innings. Expect to see him at some point Wednesday night, as he and closer Joel Hanrahan are the only fresh arms in the bullpen for Pittsburgh at the moment.
