Facebook Campaign For Pirates Minor Leaguer Robbie Grossman Kicks Off

This morning, I wrote about the strange season Pirates minor league outfielder Robbie Grossman is enjoying in Class A+ Bradenton - he already has over 100 runs scored, and he's about to eclipse 100 walks as well. That's a rare accomplishment for a minor leaguer, and it hasn't been done since Nick Swisher in 2004.

This morning, the Pirates' director of Florida operations, Trevor Gooby, wrote and told me about this Facebook page, which is dedicated to getting Grossman named the MVP of the Florida State League. It began this week and has already been very active so far.

Will he win it? Maybe not - there are a number of players who have had impressive offensive seasons, like Jupiter's Kyle Jensen. But with a surge in the next few weeks, Grossman could have a shot.

Grossman is hitting .287 with a remarkable .421 on-base percentage this year.
