Reds Vs. Pirates: Bucs Rally To 5-3 Win

Charlie Morton pitched six strong innings Saturday afternoon.

The Pirates defeated the Cincinnati Reds 5-3 Saturday at PNC Park thanks to a strong outing from Charlie Morton and a seventh-inning rally.

Morton pitched six innings and allowed seven singles and two runs, both on RBI singles by Joey Votto. He racked up ground balls as usual, and picked up two double plays.

Chris Resop relieved Morton with a 3-2 lead in the seventh and allowed a run, but Tony Watson - who had just been recalled from Class AAA Indianapolis - got three outs in the seventh and picked up the win when the Bucs added two runs in the eighth. Joel Hanrahan pitched a perfect ninth for the save.

Neil Walker had three hits and two RBI singles for the Bucs. Andrew McCutchen had two hits and scored two runs, and Ryan Ludwick had two hits.
